In the famous Battle of Teutoburg Forest, the Roman army pursued expansion east of the Rhine (modern-day Germany). They dwarfed their enemy in almost every metric—numbers, weaponry, skill, and more—yet failed to win. Although highly trained, well-armed, and disciplined, the battle took place in dense forest terrain with narrow paths, heavy rain, and muddy ground. These conditions neutralised their strengths. Their formations collapsed, and over several days, they were systematically overwhelmed.
Just like the Romans, you can render the power you possess ineffective by engaging in battles you were never meant to fight. Some struggles are not yours to pursue. God has not called you to win every fight on your own, but to discern which battles belong to Him. Vengeance belongs to the Lord. When you allow God to fight on your behalf, you preserve your strength for the assignments He has ordained for you.
