When you focus on trying not to do something, you often end up doing the very thing you wanted to avoid. This can be partly explained by the Reticular Activating System (RAS). The RAS is a part of your brain that filters information and directs your attention to what you focus on most. When you try not to do something, your brain still focuses on it, making it more likely to stay in your thoughts and influence your actions.

Rather than fixing our attention on what we do not want to do, Scripture directs us to set our minds on what is good. We have the mind of Christ. When you focus less on stopping a problem and more on the God who fixes them, your thinking begins to change, and what once dominated your focus loses its influence.

Prayer Point

Father, I pray that as I continue to grow in the Word, my thoughts and actions become a mirror of You, in Jesus’ mighty name!

Prophetic Declaration

I have the mind of Christ. When I set my sights on things above, I am transforming my life from the inside out!

I come to You in the Name of Jesus Christ.
I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God.
I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead.
I believe He’s alive today.
I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I’m born again.
Thank you Lord, for saving my soul! I’m now a child of God.
Hallelujah!
